About the Author

Maria do Céu Oliveira-Cabral

Maria do Céu Oliveira-Cabral, mostly known as “Ceuzinha” was born in São Miguel, Açores, Portugal where she lived until 19 years of age. In 1976 she immigrated to Canada.

As a widow, Ceuzinha presently lives in Caledon, Ontario with her son and several cats along with various adopted squirrels, birds, skunks and other strays that she feeds regularly as they venture into her backyard.

The author has worked in cleaning services, food industry, Portuguese language instructor, Telecommunications, Air Portugal, social work (employment field as a workforce specialist).

While working full time, Ceuzinha enrolled for continuing education at Sheridan College graduating in Management Studies, and Human Resources Specialist. She also graduated from Labour Education with a focus on Human Rights and Women’s Rights .

As a volunteer, Ceuzinha fundraised for a senior home, Event Coordinator with Carabram, community campaign fundraiser, and is one of the founders of “Amigas” – www.amigaspioneiras.com . Through “Amigas”, Ceuzinha had the initiative of fundraising for medical research in different hospitals, and for people’s shelters.

Ceuzinha was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2011 but she has not allowed her diagnosis to prevent her from being an active activist.

Being the author’s first attempt to write a book, Ceuzinha’s motivation is to encourage women to share their lives’ experience as victims of abuse. As a sequence to Miracle Cat, the author has begun her second book, “Pets for Parkinson’s” and research for her third project.

Ceuzinha does not let a day go by without signing pro-animal petitions.

The author’s commitment is to continuously grow in God’s faith, and to be able to assist others in their healing process. Even greater is Ceuzinha’s motivation to help animals by using all profits of her book “The Miracle Cat” to set up a shelter where all cats and dogs will be taken care of for the remainder of their life, free of threat, violence or hunger.
